Guide
Open PowerPoint online without Office
Open a PowerPoint file online with no upload and no Office install. .pptx slides render in your browser. Classic .ppt is a text peek, not a slideshow.
Open a .pptx in the browser
Drop a .pptx or use Choose file. Filelathe checks the package for slide parts and renders them with pptx-wasm on a canvas in the tab. You can move between slides and see shapes, images, and charts the renderer draws. No PowerPoint, no signup, no install — including on a Chromebook, Mac, or iPad.
Classic .ppt is not the same viewer
A .ppt from PowerPoint 97–2003 is an OLE Compound File. Filelathe lists streams such as PowerPoint Document and can peek recoverable text. It does not draw slide graphics, and it does not convert .ppt into .pptx.
The canvas viewer also does not edit slides, play animations, or export a PDF. If the package has no slide parts, you get the ZIP listing instead.
Does the deck get uploaded?
Rendering runs in the browser. The file is not sent to a conversion site. Choosing the window may send the filename, type, and samples to the API. Details are on what stays local.
